Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 5 Recap

Canute’s army arrived in Marcia as a conqueror in Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 5 when its representative Eadric submitted. Eadric gives Canute 8,000 silver coins in exchange for his return from the Marcia region, but Canute refuses to depart because he claims he would rule England and persuades Eadric to betray the country’s reigning monarch, Etherlerd.

Thorkell is also depicted as irate after Canute orders the war to end when Eadirc submits. Thorkell asserts that until we have the enemy’s leader killed, it doesn’t matter if the opponent surrenders or not. Canute finally succeeds in persuading Eadric to poison the reigning King Ethelred II after demonstrating his powers to the latter, and his son eventually succeeds him as King of Britannia a year later. Everyone in England is aware of Canute’s kingship, and the populace recognises him as the only king of England.
