Sweyn wonders why Harald needed to be killed when they could have ruled the world together. Canute confesses that he didn’t do it for the sake of peace and prosperity but for his own ambition to rule as king of all the North Sea. Sweyn warns Canute that the crown’s curse will not spare him and by taking the two crowns of England and Denmark, he will suffer more than Sweyn did. Estrid brings Canute back to reality and he explains that he just felt a bit dizzy. Canute then leaves as Estrid prepares a room for him.

Despite his confidence, Canute begins to question whether he made the right decision in taking the two crowns. He wonders if he will be able to handle the responsibilities of ruling two kingdoms, especially since Harald’s health is deteriorating rapidly.
