Overview of Bungo Stray Dogs Season 4 Episode 6

The Ministry of Justice honours Fukuzawa and the Armed Detective Agency for preserving Yokohama’s security and defending it during Moby Dick’s downfall one month after the cannibalism event. Atsushi is being trained by Kunikida in physical fighting while learning that he should not always rely on his tiger prowess but rather emphasise his own personal strength. Later, they meet with the Agency to discuss a fresh case involving a murder gang that has recently brutally murdered four significant persons.

Ranpo concludes that the cause is the Decay of the Angel, which Fukuzawa adds also relates to the five indications that angels displayed prior to their demise. Fukuzawa assigns the Agency the responsibility of stopping the fifth murder from happening because the “five indications” line up with the four horrifying killings. However, Ranpo rejects the position and storms out because of Mushitar’s earlier warning. Kunikida tries to stop him, but Fukuzawa tells him to proceed as they run two investigations simultaneously: while the Agency looks into the crime, Ranpo will look into the Agency’s eventual demise.

Ango, unable to reach Dazai, cautions Atsushi that the Decay of the Angel might be a front for a specific political party. As soon as Atsushi sees Justice Vice Minister Tonan, he begins to have doubts about him and departs. The Agency’s end will come quickly, Tonan thinks to himself as he continues. A blind guy arrests Dazai at a racetrack for his prior transgressions as a former Mafia official. The individual turns out to be a member of the Hunting Dogs, who are being used by Tonan and his allies to uncover and destroy the Agency’s crimes.

Later, Tonan receives paperwork from his secretary documenting the directives issued to Fukuzawa to kill prominent war hawks in the past, including Tonan’s father. When he asks his secretary to schedule a meeting with the intelligence source, the secretary shoots Tonan after admitting that he is Nikolai. The Hunting Dog also explains why evidence has just started to surface again. This is due to Mushitar, who was tied and beaten, redoing his ability after discovering that this is his main purpose in the scheme for which he had been drawn.

Tonan and his group are being held captive by Nikolai, who contacts the Agency with a list of the details, including that the hostages are sat in chairs that have been outfitted with chainsaws, that the chainsaws will go off if anyone from the Agency steps in, and that the chainsaws will go off at precisely six o’clock. With 30 minutes left, Kunikida provides Ranpo with the information, and Ranpo finds Special Division director Taneda badly injured and informs him of the Decay of the Angel’s objectives.

In order to stop the timer at the hostage-taking location, Atsushi is sent in ahead of the others. As he makes his way via the tunnel escape route, Nikolai ambushes him and challenges him to a duel. During the fight, Atsushi discovers the clown’s ability to transfer matter and is ultimately rendered immobile. Taneda reveals to Ranpo that he was stabbed by a member of the Decay of the Angel who can communicate with them and the target, revealing that the five-man group—which Ranpo speculates might be V—has stolen a page from the Book. Taneda then advises Ranpo to drop the investigation because the Decay of the Angel wants to use the Agency as a catalyst for disaster.

Nikolai goes back to the scene of the hostage-taking, where the Agency shows up and gives Kenji the assignment of keeping the military police from interfering. Kunikida and the others prepare to strike as Nikolai frees Tonan from his bindings, but Nikolai orders the chainsaws to start right once and orders the terrorists to take off their hoods. The Agency finds Nikolai restrained in a chainsaw chair and themselves to be the cloaked terrorists all of a sudden. While Nikolai’s chainsaw activates and slices through his body like the others, the MP learns that Tonan’s meeting is about disclosing the Agency’s misdeeds. Ranpo orders Kunikida to flee right now, but Tonan contacts the MP and accuses the Agency of causing the Decay of the Angel.
