“The Misfit of Demon King Academy” is an anime adaptation of a light novel series written by Shu and illustrated by Yoshinori Shizuma. The series is produced by Silver Link and directed by Shin Onuma, with scripts written by Kento Shimoyama. The series features character designs by Shoko Yasuda and music composed by Ruka Kawada. The story follows Anos Voldigoad, the Demon King, who is reincarnated after several millennia and enrolls in a school for demon kings. He quickly finds himself at odds with the school’s strict hierarchy and sets out to overthrow it. The anime first premiered in July 2020 and ran for 13 episodes.
Under the pretence of an expeditionary test, Anos travels to Zehenburg with a group of first-year students. Anos wants to track down Shin Reglia, his former right-hand man, who told him to “wait for him in the Spirit Forest Aharthern” in a message. Anos meets Lina, a girl working as an informant, on the way to the forest. She follows, searching for Aharthern as well, as they move deeper into the jungle. What they witness there…

In the starting of episode, Nosgalia and Anos’ group teleport to the Lishas Meadows surrounding Zehenburg for the Aharthern Expedition Exam. The deity says that the Aharthern forest is a Spirit in and of itself, whose whereabouts are determined by the most recent stories. He offers them the hint that evil spirits will appear in the meadows when a weird fog covers them, and making them laugh will entice them to lead the pupils.
After hearing her discuss Aharthern, scammers became incensed. Lena is aware that she must go to Aharthern despite having no recollections of her previous life, so Anos consents to letting her depart. She was an information broker, so she knew right away about the fog that would cover the meadows during an eclipse. As a result of hearing this, Anos conjured a moon by utilising magic. The Tithi ghosts then make their appearance accompanied with fog.
The Anos Fan Union is successful in getting them smile, so they take them to the forest whereas Anos’ party is unsuccessful in making them laugh. The Tithi take Anos’s former subordinates to the Spirit’s School Building when the latter questions them about their whereabouts.
Anos looks about Demon King Academy with his students in search of the “Child of God.” Anos engages in an intellectual duel with Ziek Ozma, an officer in the King of Death’s Army, while his allies are defending themselves against attacks by the demons of two thousand years ago. Anos must make the right guess on the identity of the Child of God in this combat. He is only permitted to predict a certain amount of times.
