A lethal sentinel agent who can stop agents “dead in [they are] tracks” immediately brings to mind Chamber, the deadly sentinel agent who, before his nerfs, became a prominent element of any professional or highly ranked competitive map composition.

Before major nerfs in December that made Chamber’s entire ability kit less viable, he was the center of the meta in 2022 with almost every professional team assigning him to their best mechanical player.

First, let’s learn everything we can about the newest agent, a Sentinel according to the developers’ tweet. With the 22nd agent being revealed in a month, Valorant will have a total of 21 agents on its roster.

Riot is probably not attempting to replace Chamber or produce an agent that is as powerful as Chamber was before the Nerf. Other than what we can infer from a single teaser image from the preview post, which depicts the agent disassembling and tinkering with a device that is undoubtedly a part of their ability kit in some way on a workshop table, we know very little about this upcoming agent.

In reality, Cypher and Chamber are more similar than Chamber is to an ability kit that stops players and draws them in for a closer look. The kit will involve briefly detaining enemy players, perhaps by stopping them in their tracks, and “a closer look” will reveal tactical details like enemy ability cooldown times.

Perhaps “a closer look” even entails bringing the foe physically closer. Players can anticipate learning more about the new agent fairly soon because VALORANT Episode Seven is scheduled to premiere later in June.
