The protagonist of the “dark hero action” anime is Raizo Kurima, a man who was deceived by a person he trusted and who now has nowhere to go. He’s now a hitman for the group Revenger, which exacts vengeance on behalf of those with no influence. He works at the “Ribenjiya” shop, which presents itself as a general store on the exterior while concealing the Revenger organisation inside. One of his coworkers is a doctor with destructive tendencies; another is a handsome androgynous young man who is both cruel and innocent; a fourth is a gambler who loves money and booze; and the fifth is a clever lacquer maker. Working together causes the five men to develop an odd relationship.
On January 5, the animation made its debut in Japan. Asia is the only region where Crunchyroll does not stream anime. The original author of the piece is listed as Ribenjiya. The planning of the show is credited to Shochiku, Ajia-do, and Nitroplus. The anime in Ajia-do is being directed by Masaya Fujimori (Kemono Jihen, Izetta: The Last Witch, Fairy Tail the Movie: Phoenix Priestess). The original story was written by Gen Urobuchi of Nitroplus (Madoka Magica, Fate/Zero), who is also in charge of writing the screenplays for the television series. Together with Renji Ki of Nitroplus, Urobuchi is penning the scripts (Azur Lane, Bubble). Characters were created by Jiro Suzuki and Yichi, and Yuji Hosogoe is converting those designs to animation. Along with Yuki Nishioka and Emiko Endo, Hosogoe serves as the chief animator. The music is being written by Jun Futamata.
In addition, Teppei Sat is the director of photography, Hotaka Okamoto is in charge of the visuals, Naomi Nakano is in charge of the colours, and Akiko Fujita is in charge of the sound. The anime’s “Downtimer” theme song is performed by RetBear (unknown VO: O2). The final song of the programme, “un mute,” is performed by Maaya Sakamoto.
