Takemichi intervenes just in time to prevent Hakkai from picking up the dagger in a moment of desperation

Takemichi sets his sights on taking over Black Dragon by defeating Taiju. However, his attempts to attack Taiju are futile, and he ends up getting punched. Despite Hakkai’s advice to stop, Takemichi refuses to give up and continues to fight. He remembers his past when he used to be alone, and he realizes that he has come a long way since then. Takemichi manages to land a hit on Taiju, who claims he barely felt it, but then falls to his knees. Takemichi stands up, ready to keep fighting. He believes that risking his life to change the future is worth it, as he knows firsthand that being alone is the most painful thing. Takemichi tells Hakkai that he can confide in him since they are friends, and Hakkai falls to his knees, begging for Takemichi to save him.

Takemichi’s determination to take over Black Dragon by defeating Taiju is unrelenting, despite his failed attempts. He refuses to accept Hakkai’s advice to stop and is motivated by the memories of his lonely past. Takemichi manages to hit Taiju, who initially shrugs it off, but ultimately falls to his knees. Takemichi doesn’t give up and stands back up, determined to fight until the end. He believes that risking his life to change the future is worth it, and being alone is the most excruciating pain. Takemichi also assures Hakkai that he can always talk to him about anything since they are friends. Hakkai, moved by Takemichi’s words, falls on his knees and pleads for Takemichi to save him.

As Taiju falls on his knees, everyone is taken aback. Takemichi steps forward, assuring Hakkai that he will protect Yuzuha, just as Hakkai had wanted to. However, Hakkai interjects, revealing that he had never actually been beaten up by Taiju, but rather Yuzuha had been the one taking the beatings. Hakkai had been too afraid to defy Taiju and had lied about his injuries. Hajime scoffs at Hakkai’s cowardice, mocking him for being protected by a woman and taking credit for her actions. Yuzuha shuts him down, defending her decision to protect Hakkai.

Hakkai apologizes and begs for forgiveness, taking responsibility for his lies. Takemichi acknowledges Hakkai’s mistake, but also admits his own shortcomings. Takashi also criticizes Hakkai for pretending to be content with his life, when in fact he had hated it. He reveals his own struggles, recalling a time when he had left his siblings in frustration, only to be slapped by his mother upon his return. However, she had also hugged him and apologized for their situation. Takashi emphasizes that everyone has weaknesses, but that’s why friends are so important. Takemichi reassures Hakkai that they won’t abandon him for his mistake, and Hakkai removes his Black Dragon jacket, thanking everyone.

Hakkai finally stood up against Taiju, announcing that he won’t be a part of the Black Dragon anymore. Taiju tried to intimidate him, claiming that he was the one who protected their family, but Hakkai refused to back down. He punched Taiju, declaring that he will protect his loved ones and friends. Chifuyu observed that Hakkai’s choice of words, “beat” instead of “kill,” was significant, indicating that the future was not set in stone. Taiju and Hakkai fought fiercely, and Taiju became increasingly frustrated that God was testing him yet again. With a single punch, Taiju took Hakkai down, expressing his annoyance at having to kill two of his own family members.

Taiju then turned to Takemichi and the others, informing them that they would not be leaving the church alive, as the Black Dragon had already surrounded the building. Chifuyu confirmed that there were over a hundred members outside, but Takemichi refused to run away, stating that unless they defeated Taiju, the future would not change.

Takashi admitted that his expectations for Hakkai had blinded him, causing him to fail as an older brother. He expressed his gratitude to Yuzuha for protecting him and stated that it was their turn to protect her. Yuzuha recounted a memory of her mother’s hospitalization, during which she had asked Yuzuha whether she liked her father. Yuzuha was unable to answer, as her father was always absent and uninvolved. Her mother apologized and hugged her, promising to protect her.

However, shortly thereafter, her mother passed away. At her mother’s gravesite, Yuzuha vowed to protect the family and expressed her hope that she would be able to hug her mother again one day. After their mother’s death, Taiju began beating Yuzuha and Hakkai on a daily basis. One day, Taiju was furious that someone had left the toilet seat up. Yuzuha lied and claimed responsibility, but Taiju knew she was lying, as only boys lifted the seat. Taiju began beating Hakkai, but Yuzuha pleaded with him to beat her instead. Taiju agreed, and from that day on, Yuzuha took the beatings meant for both of them. Tetta informed her of what was happening and gave her a knife to defend herself and Hakkai.

Takashi and Chifuyu engage Seishu and Hajime, while Hakkai and Takemichi fight Taiju. As the battle rages on, everyone starts to feel exhausted. Yuzuha closes her eyes and feels a warm embrace, as if her mother is hugging her once again. However, Takashi and Chifuyu can’t fight for much longer, and Takemichi eventually passes out. Taiju tells Hakkai that he has lost everything, but Hakkai refuses to back down and tells Taiju to leave and learn his lesson in hell. Taiju becomes enraged and gains the upper hand in the fight.

Suddenly, the sound of a motorbike engine is heard outside. Takashi recognizes the sound as Manjiro’s bike and wonders who called him. Takemichi is relieved, knowing that they are saved with Manjiro’s arrival. However, Takashi is worried about what Manjiro will think since they are the ones who broke the truce. Manjiro enters the church and wishes everyone a Merry Christmas, questioning why they are all gathered there on that day.
