From its free-to-play model to early gameplay tests, there a lot of areas that require tuning.

Skate release date

As of now, there is no release date fixed in for the next title in the Skate franchise. Despite early tests being conducted through this year, there’s no indication of when players can expect the full launch.

Throughout these early public builds, few players have got the opportunity to test the game in action. While it’s obviously a work in progress, it provides a first glimpse of the upcoming reboot in action.

Skate going free-to-play

During a July 14 ‘board room’ video, the team developing the game revealed its long-term plans for the franchise. Instead of releasing a simple ‘Skate 4’ as a premium game and releasing supporting for years to continue, the developers are instead looking to keep this new Skate title around for a longer period of time.

As a result, Skate will be unveiled as a free-to-play title and feature cross-play across both different generations and consoles. As of bow, there’s no word on how the game will generate revenue. It’s safe to assume premium cosmetics and season passes could be its revenue model.
