Rocket League is a complicated yet fun car-football game. Over the years, this game has seen a number of new features that take its competitive scene to another level. Ranked play, and rank in general, are extremely important in Psyonix’s car-football title.

Rocket League ranks are not only related to things such as MMR and the number of hours played by players but are distributed in a complex way that makes players’ journey from pleb to Super Sonic Legend more interesting than they would expect. In this article, we will discuss Rocket League Ranks.

What Are Rocket League Ranks?

These Ranks are earned as players move up the leaderboards. They aren’t the ranked rewards awarded through interacting with different seasonal Rocket Passes that are released in the game, though they are relevant. In reality, a player’s Rocket League rank is established through their performance in matches and their general skill level when playing ranked matches.

How Does The Rank System Work?

The Rocket League Rank system relates to gameplay made in its competitive mode. In this mode, players build their way through the ranks after finishing a placement round of 10 matches that will place them in a starting rank.

The game has 23 different ranks, with Supersonic Legend being the highest and Unranked being the lowest. Players will be in the Unranked category until they complete the placement rounds and then they will work their way up and down the overall leaderboard as they play additional matches.

Matches are played against players that are under the same category, with a combination of MMR and generally ranked progression aiding them in their progress. If players lose a few rounds, their Rocket League rank might drop, likewise, if they win a few, it will begin to rise.

As players work their way up and down, their rank will be determined by how many wins they secure, but also the players that they go against.
