Fuji TV has released a trailer for the upcoming 10th-anniversary film of the popular anime series Psycho-Pass, which is set to be released on May 12. The trailer features the film’s theme song, “Alexithymia Spare,” performed by Ling Tosite Sigure. The official website of the film also revealed that the movie will be screened in MX4D and 4DX formats, alongside regular screenings.

Returning Cast and Crew Members

Naoyoshi Shiotani will direct the movie at Production I.G, with Makoto Fukami and Tow Ubukata serving as scriptwriters. Naoyuki Onda returns as the character designer and chief animation director, Makiko Suzuki as color key artist, Shūichi Kusamori as art director, GEMBA for the 3D CGI, Eiji Arai as compositing director of photography, Yoshinori Murakami as the editor, Yūgo Kanno as the film composer, and Yoshikazu Iwanami as the sound director. The film is based on the original Psycho-Pass anime by Gen Urobuchi.

Returning voice actors include Kana Hanazawa as Akane Tsunemori, Tomokazu Seki as Shinya Kōgami, Kenji Nojima as Nobuchika Ginoza, Shizuka Itou as Yayoi Kunizuka, Miyuki Sawashiro as Shion Karanomori, Ayane Sakura as Mika Shimotsuki, Takahiro Sakurai as Sho Hinakawa, Hiroki Touchi as Teppei Sugo, Takako Honda as Frederica Hanashiro, Kazuhiro Yamaji as Jouji Saiga, and Noriko Hidaka as Dominator.

Plot Details and Franchise Overview

The original Psycho-Pass anime series premiered in 2012, and its sequel Psycho-Pass 2 aired in October 2014. The franchise also includes a movie and a three-film project called Psycho-Pass SS or Psycho-Pass: Sinners of the System. The first two films premiered in January and February 2019, respectively, while the third film was released in March 2019. The third season of the anime, Psycho-Pass 3, was released in October 2019, with each of its eight episodes having hour-long runtimes. The anime was exclusively streamed on Amazon Prime Video both in and outside of Japan.

The film takes place in a world where a person’s mental state can be measured through a device called a Psycho-Pass. The story follows Akane Tsunemori, an enforcer who works for the government agency responsible for maintaining public safety by apprehending individuals whose mental state exceeds the acceptable limit. However, as she investigates a case involving a mysterious entity known as “Bifrost,” Akane begins to question the morality of her job and the system she is working for.
