Although the long-overdue Pokémon HOME update of May 30 was eagerly anticipated, many Scarlet and Violet players are still disappointed by the extensive list of Pokémon that cannot be transferred over for a variety of reasons. Pokémon HOME was recently updated to be compatible with the Gen IX games, allowing players to finally import their favorite Pokémon from games like Pokémon GO and Legends: Arceus.
This was generally excellent news. Only a few Pokémon species, though, were allowed to travel to the Paldea region. For instance, Bulbasaur and Squirtle cannot be transferred to Scarlet and Violet while Charmander can. If you need more information about Pokémon fans bemoan the collection’s inability to transition to Scarlet and Violet then read carefully, and don’t forget to share with your friends.
Naturally, some fans were upset that their preferred Pokémon wasn’t included, as evidenced by a June 1 Reddit thread. The author of the post introduced the topic by mentioning their favorite Absol “from 2D times.” Absol was not one of the fortunate Pokémon to be given access to Scarlet and Violet, as you might have guessed.
But the player maintained his optimism and offered consolation to other spectators in a similar predicament. While our partners may not be present, we will undoubtedly find a way to give our Pokémon and ourselves new experiences.
Players elaborated on this by mentioning additional tragic causes for the impossibility of reuniting with their Pokémon. Many fans have first-hand knowledge of what it’s like to lose special event Pokémon or ones they spent hours training, especially when they know they won’t ever be able to get those moms back. This could have happened because someone’s cousin accidentally deleted their save file or because a mischievous foster dog chewed up their game card.
The transfer procedure has also become a little more challenging as a result of the Nintendo 3DS eShop’s recent closure, as Pokémon Bank, the game that served as the predecessor to Pokémon HOME, is now only available to users who downloaded it before the closure. The ability to transfer Pokémon from those older games to Pokémon HOME or any other Switch game is only available to those who had Pokémon Bank downloaded on their 3DS.
We’ve had to part ways with some of our favorite Pokémon in the past for a variety of reasons. Although it can be difficult to play Scarlet and Violet without your old favorites, as a wise Absol fan once observed, we can still make new memories with the Pokémon we do have right now.
