Overwatch 2 has offered a PvP experience to its players ever since it came out last year, following the footsteps of its precursor. However, the game is said to offer a PvE experience with the game mode releasing sometime in 2023.

Team chemistry will no longer be integral to this new mode and players will no longer be required to play by their teammate’s rules. Single players will be the boss in PvE matches when it hits the game.

The mode was discussed at June 16’s Overwatch 2 reveal event, the showcase emphasized on the upgrades and changes coming to the game’s popular PvP action. Blizzard’s development team also shared some updates on when the new PvE mode will come to the game. So when is the game mode coming to Overwatch 2?

PvE game mode release date

As mentioned earlier, the PvE experience could hit the game sometime in 2023. As per reports, the PvE system will be pushed to the game incrementally through a “seasonal” system.

In June last year, Overwatch 2’s game director, Aaron Keller, confirmed the team is “still working on all of the PvE parts of Overwatch 2.” These plans could involve them pushing tidbits of the PvE gameplay.

While the devs might be aware of what hero will be released in the coming years, they have a roadmap in place for how they’ll release “the PvE experience we’ve always envisioned to be a part of Overwatch 2.”

With all the cosmetics coming with each season, getting a new segment of PvE game mode would be icing on the cake of Overwatch 2’s seasonal drops. The details of what they meant by seasonal are still unclear. It could mean their battle pass seasonal which changes every two months, giving them more time to fine-tune the mode.

That said, players will soon be able to avoid bad teammates with ease by taking on bots who won’t let players down.
