Overwatch 2’s roster have various distinct heroes exerting a lot of distinct weapons. There are shotguns, pistols, machine guns, assault rifles, laser guns, massive tazers, sniper rifles, grenade launchers, rocket launchers, energy blasters, prayer beads, bows and arrows, ice beams, and many, many more. But the weapon that Overwatch 2 doesn’t include is a flamethrower. We’re not completely confident why not, but as per Overwatch art director Dion Rogers, it’s just not simple to make a flamethrower work on Blizzard’s software.

Rogers introduced this small tidbit in a fresh interview with GameSpot where he and lead hero designer Alec Dawson said the new hero, Armature, as well as the fresh seasons. The couple also talked over the likelihood of even more heroes joining in Overwatch 2 and were inquired if there were any “lingering character concepts” that they certainly want to execute.

Rogers didn’t tell why it was hard to make a flamethrower-wielding hero, but it is something that fandom have been inquiring for years (as noted by Games Radar). It look like Rogers is actually eager to work on, probably indicating at the sort of hero we can following anticipate to come.

Also in the interview, Dawson clarified how Blizzard goes about developing a fresh character for Overwatch 2’s already-packed roster. “They’re getting something to the roster, whether it be some of their utility or whether it be from an attitude perspective. What they are getting to the Overwatch lineup, as you proceed to put more heroes in the game, can be more of a challenge.”
