Overwatch 2 witnessed a successful launch last year. The game has since been going strong and many heroes, events, and systems are being added to it on regular basis. But how many players are playing the game in 2023? In this article, we will discuss the player count to know if the game is successful or not.

After months of hype, Overwatch 2 finally hit the market shelves. Despite running into some early server issues and trouble with some heroes of the game, Blizzard managed to cater to a huge player base, both new and old, since it came out in October 2022.

But considering the case with any multiplayer title, Overwatch 2 is required to maintain a healthy player base to take on the likes of Fortnite, Apex Legends, and Warzone 2, which are pretty popular among gamers.

Overwatch 2’s active player count

Blizzard does not release the exact number of players across all editions of the title, so only third-party solutions can help us know the approximate player count. It’s worth understanding that Active Player uses educated guesses to provide a number on the player count of a game.

So, while there’s no official information from the game publisher or the developers about the word count, we can make a guess as to how popular Overwatch 2 really is. As per Active Player, Overwatch 2 has an average of 2,124,797 players a day and a total of 23,608,850 active users in the last month.

On October 14, 2022, Blizzard announced that 25 million players tried their hands on Overwatch 2 in the first 10 days of the servers going live. The numbers are very impressive, owing to the hype that was created months ahead of its release and the developer’s decision to make it a free-to-play game.

The game’s launch was so successful that the game has already achieved a daily player count peak that is nearly three times higher than the first installment in the franchise.
