Overwatch 2 is the second installment of Blizzard Entertainment’s highly-popular FPS shooter game, Overwatch. The game is played between two teams with up to five players fighting each other in a cooperative environment with the help of a hero chosen from a lot of 36. Each hero comes with a unique set of skills, offering players a unique experience for all of them.

Overwatch 2 hit the gaming scene last year and was received with mixed reactions. While the game did garner an impressive 35 million players in its first month of launch, both old and new players were critical to the game’s direction. That said, it is still a great game to play like its precursor and if players want to join in, there are a few ways to do it.

Firstly, players are required to have a Battle.net account in order to enjoy Overwatch 2. The game is free-to-play and has a cross-platform and cross-progression system for modern consoles and Windows PC. Although Mac doesn’t seem to be included in the list.

Can Overwatch 2 be played on Mac?

Sadly, the game hasn’t been released for the Mac. If previous launches are anything to go by, it looks like the game might never release on a Mac in the future as well. This is because of some specific constraints that exist on the macOS, preventing several games that don’t use third-party engines from running seamlessly.

But there are workarounds that will enable players to enjoy Overwatch 2 on their Mac. Before you get too excited, you will have to ensure the Mac will be able to run the game. Here are the minimum system requirements and recommended requirements.

  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060/ GeForce GTX 1650 or AMD R9 380/ RX 6400 GPU
  • 8GB RAM Memory

Here’s how players can use to run the game on their Mac.

Boot Camp method

This method to run the game on the Mac will need players to download the Boot Camp software, which is a free tool that can be installed on the macOS. Boot Camp enables players to create a separate partition on their hard disk to install Windows to run games that usually don’t support macOS. This method only works with Intel Macs and Apple Silicon Macs.

Players need to ensure they have around 60-80GB free storage. Here are the steps:

  • Create a partition using Boot Camp to install the Windows OS.
  • Install the Windows OS and switch to it using Boot Camp upon system restart.
  • Once shifted, players need to download Battle.net on it and install Overwatch 2.
  • Now, they can run the game on their system.
