The briefness of Kaido’s flashback is a major talking point in One Piece Chapter 1049. Manga readers were finally able to see Kaido’s childhood in the Vodka Kingdom. They even got to see some Rocks Pirates action. That vignette, however, ended almost as quickly as it began. It is unknown whether Eiichiro Oda will continue it later. One Piece fans have been arguing about this move on social media for the past few days. Some think Kaido’s backstory was rushed. This article will look at both points of view. 4) It’s way too short

One Piece fans had to wait a long time for Kaido’s backstory. However, they only received a few pages. Many of the flashback sequences had ended abruptly and moved on to the next section. In a similar vein, some fans believe Oda spent far too much time on filler panels elsewhere. Orochi, who has already survived death several times, is a particularly infamous example. They believe Oda should have made more room for Kaido.

3) There’s too many unanswered questions

Oda clearly does not want to reveal too much about the God Valley incident. As a result, Kaido’s flashback omitted the juicy details about the Rocks Pirates. However, there are still many unanswered questions about Kaido’s past:

  • Who is Yamato’s mother?
  • Why does he want her to stay in Wano Country?
  • Where did he find all those Ancient Zoan fruits?
  • Why did Jack and Queen team up with him?
  • How did he find out about Joy Boy?

That’s only scratching the surface of this One Piece villain’s abilities. A significant number of readers desired to see more than what was provided.

2) The best villains tend to have longer flashbacks

Not every villain in One Piece has a flashback. However, since Dressrosa, several major villains have received backstories. Donquixote Doflamingo and Charlotte Linlin, also known as Big Mom, are among them. Many people pointed out that Big Mom had a few chapters devoted to her backstory. Kaido, on the other hand, had only a few pages despite being her direct counterpart. They are understandably disappointed because they expected more from the world’s strongest creature.

1) It would flesh out Kaido’s motivations

Kaido has never been the most popular character in the polls, despite his low ranking. The majority of this is due to a lack of information on him. Even now, readers of One Piece have no idea what Kaido’s true motivations are, aside from wanting to start a war. While he was personally invited to Wano Country, that aspect of his backstory was only briefly discussed. For some reason, he also appears to be deeply invested in Joy Boy lore. Readers must comprehend why Kaido acted the way he did. A longer flashback sequence would have been extremely beneficial.
