Old G had to substitute two players for its Division II games, including Resolut1on and Kitrak, who are currently playing as stand-ins at the Berlin Major 2023. Resolut1on is currently replacing Ivan “Pure” Moskalenko for BetBoom, and Kitrak is replacing Evgenii “Chu” Makarov for OG. This violated the rulebook, resulting in Old G’s disqualification.

Player Frustration Expressed

Sébastien “Ceb” Debs, one of the players from Old G’s roster, expressed his frustration with the decision and called out PGL and an administrator in his tweet, highlighting that they did not care and provided no help in the situation.

Popular Dota 2 streamer Janne “Gorgc” Stefanovski also reacted to the situation and Ceb’s tweets in his recent livestream. Gorgc stated that Old G had to play a game to stay in Division II against PuckChamp, but since they had two players standing in for the major, they received a definite loss and were relegated to Division III. Gorgc humorously referred to Division III as the “depths of hell.”

Future Opportunities for Old G

Old G’s disqualification marks the end of the team’s run in the DPC WEU 2023 Tour 2 Division II. Team Secret and D2 Hustlers will advance to Division I, while Old G and Ivy are eliminated from the DPC. However, both teams will have another opportunity to play in the next tour through open qualifiers. Old G’s rule violations have led to their disqualification from the DPC WEU 2023 Tour 2 Division II.

Although the team expressed frustration with the decision, they will have another opportunity to compete in the next tour through open qualifiers. It is important for teams to carefully review tournament rules and regulations to avoid disqualifications and other penalties that may negatively impact their chances of success.
