The League of Legends team for Counter Logic Gaming quickly rose to the top of the North American competitive scene before the company was acquired by NRG Esports last month. However, now that the roster is under a new management team, they are prepared to make a splash during the upcoming 2023 LCS Summer Split by signing two of the top free agents available during the mid-season break.

The bottom lane duo of Victor “FBI” Huang and Lee “IgNar” Dong-Geun has joined the roster, giving this promising group of players some much-needed firepower. NRG announces significant bottom lane additions for the 2023 LCS Summer Split:

Since entering the LCS in 2019 with Golden Guardians, the FBI has consistently posed a DPS threat as the former AD carry for 100 Thieves and Evil Geniuses. He has since played a significant role in many winning teams, including the Thieves’ championship campaign in 2021.

The 24-year-old veteran has a tonne of experience playing on a big stage and should give NRG an extra edge when the game gets tough in the latter stages of a match. IgNar, on the other hand, is a seasoned support who has represented numerous organizations and continents, including Europe’s Misfits Gaming, Schalke 04, and Korea’s KT Rolster, but he has spent the most time in North America with teams like FlyQuest, Immortals, Dignitas, and Evil Geniuses.

With experience on both top rosters and bottom-tier teams, he has effectively become a journeyman, but the 26-year-old can still perform well with the right teammates. IgNar can play relatively aggressively on heavy engage champions like Alistar, Thresh, Rakan, and Nautilus with players like Contractz, Palafox, and Dhokla, a playstyle he has mastered in the past.

Overall, this roster appears to be competitive enough to place in the top five of the LCS standings, but they will need to improve their chemistry during the first few weeks of the split. FBI and IgNar will need to establish some sort of bond with the rest of the team if they hope to make a strong postseason run because the 2023 Spring Split CLG roster worked well together both on and off the Summoner’s Rift.
