Boy’s Abyss, a dark and unsettling story of a young kid and the challenges he experiences in life, has gained popularity recently. The manga is far from pleasant; it deals with serious issues including familial abuse, suicide, and other, far harsher subjects. Boy’s Abyss offers a profound understanding of the worst aspects of human nature. Reiji Kurose, a little child who lives in the country, is the main character of the book Boy’s Abyss. Reiji wishes he could escape the country every day, but he is aware that it would be practically impossible given the pressures of his dependent mother, insane grandmother, and disabled brother. Without anything to look forward to, his life is empty.

He can’t escape Gen Minegishi, a neighborhood bully who keeps him at his beck and call, which makes matters worse. Sukako Akiyama, Reiji’s best friend, who is also dissatisfied with her existence in the country, has enormous hopes of leaving with him. However, the harsh realities continually crush both of their dreams. When Reiji meets the well-known idol Nagi Aoe, a member of the girl group “Acrylic” that he adored, his life gets more problematic. Even more bizarre is the fact that he discovers her employed at the neighborhood convenience shop in this desolate region. Reiji is caught up in a string of scandalous occurrences, but he has no idea that his encounter with Nagi Aoe will lead him down into a pit of sin that is filled with deceit, treachery, and obsession.

Recap of the Previous Chapter

Let’s quickly review the previous events in the manga. Before, we saw Gen confronting his twisted and convoluted identities as well as his genuine desires. Gen admits to Reiji that he wishes to be Yuoko rather than be with her. Gen desired to be a woman like Yuoko, condemning his birthplace and his family for preventing him from pursuing his ambition without consequences. In order to avoid losing Nagi or Chako, Gen professes his love for Reiji and begs him to die with him. Reiji and Gen wanted to spend their entire lives together in secret love. Even more, Gen admits to killing Yuoko and dumping her body in the river at the dying wish of Yuoko.

Reiji cannot bring himself to do such a thing, and he assures Gen that even if he dies, he will not be followed because he has someone else he loves and wants to be with. Reiji explains to Gen that he cannot pass away and that it was Reiji’s mother who caused his father to bleed to death rather than Gen. Reiji comforts Gen by promising to wait for him and persuades him to go to the police to clear his name. The river where Reiji’s mother’s body was dumped is visited by Gen and Reiji. Gen follows through on his pledge to visit the police station. Reiji couldn’t help but think back on all the torture he had endured at the hands of his emotionally unstable and abusive mother. Reiji felt bad that he was still emotionless in the wake of his mother’s passing.
