New Trailer Streamed for the Films Gold Kingdom and Water Kingdom

Friday saw the release of a fresh trailer by Warner Bros. Japan for the anime adaptation of Nao Iwamoto’s Kin no Kuni Mizu no Kuni manga, Gold Kingdom and Water Kingdom. Saladin, the Minister of the Left for the Gold Kingdom, and Naranbayar, the main male character, are shown speaking in the video. Saladin and Naranbayar talk about a covert strategy for resolving the conflict between the Water Kingdom and the Gold Kingdom. In Japan, the movie will premiere on January 27. The movie had its international premiere on October 21 in Hollywood, Los Angeles, as part of the “Animation Is Film Festival.”

Starring Sara and Naranbayar respectively in the anime movie are Minami Hamabe and Kento Kaku. The following additional cast members are included (unofficial character name spellings):

• Hiroshi Kamiya as Saladin, Gold Kingdom’s Minister of the Left

• Miyuki Sawashiro as Lailala, a mysterious woman who works for the Gold Kingdom

• Subaru Kimura as Jauhara, a Gold Kingdom scholar

• Keiko Toda as Leopoldine, Gold Kingdom’s first princess

• Chafurin as Piripappa, Gold Kingdom’s Minister of the Right

• Masaki Terasoma as Oduni, Water Kingdom’s patriarch

• Banjou Ginga as Rastavan III, Gold Kingdom’s king

The movie at Madhouse was directed by Kotono Watanabe (Btooom!). Hugtto! Chiccha Na Mune no Tokimeki, Fumi Tsubota (12-Sai)! The script was written by Precure, Waccha PriMagi! The animation supervisor is listed as Mitsuyuki Masuhara. The tunes were created by Violet Evergarden’s Evan Call. The production coordination is credited to NTV and Warner Bros. Japan is in charge of distribution. The “Brand New World” theme song is performed by Kotone. The songs “Love Birds” and “Yasashii Yokan” are also performed by Kotone.

The manga is set between two competing kingdoms with a history of strained relations. Sara and Naranbayar, a princess and young man from opposite nations who meet by happenstance and discover they must act as a pair to keep peace in their kingdoms, are the novel’s major characters. Even so, they discover that they are gradually falling in love with one another.

The manga was first published by Iwamoto in the Flowers shjo manga issue of Shogakukan in October 2014, and Shogakukan released the sole book volume of the manga in 2016. The 2017 issue of Takarajimasha’s manga guidebook Kono Manga ga Sugoi! (This Manga Is Amazing!) Had Kin no Kuni Mizu no Kuni at the top of the Female Readers list. In 2017, it was also a candidate for the 10th Manga Taisho award.
