Shiro SAGISU, a composer, arranger, and music producer, was born in Tokyo in 1957 and has been at the vanguard of the music business for 44 years since he took part in the major label debut of the jazz fusion band T-SQUARE in 1978. He has worked on thousands of songs and musicians in a variety of genres, including Pop music, Jazz, Gospel, R&B, Rock, and Classical crossover, as well as film and television scores. He has always produced a tonne of songs and most recently collaborated with musicians like MISIA, Ken Hirai, SMAP, Taro Hakase, JUJU, Yoko Takahashi, Mika Nakashima, and many others. Internationally since that time, with bases in London, Paris, and Tokyo. More than 33 years and devoted followers on every continent have been spent working with film director Hideaki Anno. He continuously issued his own works, including four-disc sets, two-disc sets, and DVDs, starting with his first significant album EYES (1979) and continuing with his SHIRO’S SONGBOOK series (1999–2022). He also oversees P-productions, Manga, Animation, and Kaiju studios in addition to managing the business, carrying on the legacy of his father Soji Ushio (1921-2004).

Recent works include the orchestration of the Japanese national anthem “Kimigayo” for the opening ceremony of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the fanfare and marches at the JRA racecourse, the complete works of the EVANGELION series (TV and Film), MUSA (film), the complete works of the BLEACH series (TV and Film), the complete works of the Berserk series (TV and Film), the complete works of Attack on Titan (two films), Shin Godzilla (film), Shin Ultraman

Neon Genesis Evangelion’s Music Is Now Available Digitally

On Friday, January 27, in NY, NEW YORK, Milan Records will release four CDs featuring music from the wildly popular NEON GENESIS EVANGELION anime series and motion pictures. The release features music by renowned composer Shiro SAGISU and more from all 26 episodes of the original anime series that debuted in 1995, as well as music from two films in the franchise, Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death and Rebirth and THE END OF EVANGELION. It is now accessible to stream for the first time ever outside of Asia. Shiro SAGISU, who composed the score for Evangelion, ranging from more traditional orchestral works to a genre-fluid blend of influences and genres. The four-album catalogue highlights the distinctive sound of the series. On Friday, January 27, Milan Records will release 4 albums from the anime series and films Shiro Sagisu has composed, in addition to other works.

The albums also contain fan favourites from the franchise, such as “The Cruel Angel’s Thesis” and “Mugen Houyou,” the opening and closing themes by Yoko Takahashi, and Shiro SAGISU’s legendary scoring music. The CD also includes “Soul’s Refrain,” Takahashi’s theme for Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death and Rebirth, and “THANATOS-IF I CAN’T BE YOURS,” LOREN&MASH’s song for THE END OF EVANGELION.
