Esports Personality of the Year was given to Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag during the December 2022 Esports Awards presentation. The co-founder of S8UL Esports and Indian Battlegrounds Mobile player Naman “MortaL” Mathur was also nominated for the honour but did not take home the trophy. MortaL came in second place in the competition for the “Esports Personality of the Year” award, according to the Esports Awards, which announced the top three finalists on December 26 on its Twitter account. MortaL places second in the 2022 Esports Awards’ competition for Esports Personality of the Year
The first Indian to ever be nominated for The Esports Awards was MortaL in 2020, making history. MortaL placed third in the category of “Esports Mobile Player of the Year” and second in the category of “Streamer of the Year” back then. The next year, MortaL was nominated for “Streamer of the Year,” but he was unable to win the coveted prize for a second consecutive year. In the “Personality of the Year” category of the Esports Awards 2022, he received his first nomination this year.

MortaL placed second at such a renowned awards ceremony, which is a significant accomplishment in and of itself even though they did not win the prize. The winner of the “Esports Personality of the Year” award is chosen by a panel of judges, according to MortaL, who detailed the process on a recent Livestream. He said that this was his first year being nominated and that perhaps the jury will judge him based on how he kept his personality going forward.
MortaL was not successful in winning the “Esports Personality of the Year” title at the Esports Awards 2022, but S8UL Esports was successful in defeating major esports leagues to win the “Content Group of the Year” award.
