Packet burst is depicted in-game in MW2 and Warzone 2 as an image of three orange squares stacked on top of one another, as shown above. While in a match, it will also display “Packet Burst” next to the player’s mini-map in orange letters.

MW2’s On-Demand Texture Streaming feature, which improves the game’s visuals but may be the source of your packet burst or packet loss issues, may not be supported by your internet connection. On-Demand Texture Streaming can be found under the Details & Textures settings when you open the Settings and switch to the Graphics tab. If you haven’t already done so, disable this option right away to start seeing results.

If you already had the aforementioned setting disabled, the issue might be with your internet connection. Packet bursts may be a common occurrence if your download and upload speeds are slow, if many people in your home or neighborhood are simultaneously using the internet, or in other situations. To check if your internet speeds are adequate, use your preferred speed testing website, such as Fast.com or Speedtest.net.

Try resetting your modem, waiting 30 seconds, then turning it back on if your connection problems persist. If problems continue, speak with your ISP for more details or assistance.

Check for Call of Duty server issues

CoD might also be experiencing server issues, in which case the packet burst and packet loss might be completely beyond your control. Make sure to check the CoD server status website and Activision’s support page to see if the games are experiencing any problems.

Regardless of the platform you use to play Call of Duty, you can check the status of Battle.net, Steam, PSN, and Xbox to see if they’re experiencing any issues of their own.
