Mesut Ozil is making a move to the eSports world from football. Former Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil is now aiming to become an Esports athlete after his retirement from football. Ozil’s agent Dr Erkut Sogut has given a statement on the future of the World Cup winner confessing Ozil could move towards becoming an Esports player when his football career finishes up. The 33-year-old presently plays for Fenerbahce in the Turkish top flight after departing the Emirates in 2021 – though his circumstance at the club is up in the air after being rescinded in March.

Ozil spent 8 years in north London, he was joined in the club for a fee in the region of £42million & he has won the FA Cup on 3 occasions with Arsenal. The 33-year-old have an Esports team named ‘M10 Esports’, which was established in 2018.

In an interview with the Telegraph, Sogut disclosed that he can see Ozil shifting into the world of Esports as a professional gamer once his football career get ends. Sogut stated: “He’s really good, to be honest, at Fortnite and I think one day I wouldn’t be surprised if he is competing. He owns a team [M10 Esports] and he has players. He has a gaming house in Germany and he has football, like FIFA, and Fortnite.”

When Ozil was at the Emirates Stadium, the German was implicated of spending most of the time playing video games rather than concentrating on his football. The 33-year-old’s agreement was eventually canceled six months early in 2021 and now discovers himself in a complicated situation at Fenerbahce after manager Jorge Jesus indicated his time with the club is finished.

Sogut also said: “I think he will not play football in any other club anymore. I can’t see that – it will be Fenerbahce and that’s it.”

Ozil has two years of his current deal left with the Turkish outfit but it doesn’t look like he will be continuing his playing career once further into the future. Sogut indicated that Ozil would probably retire from the game but not search for a new club should the 33-year-old be pushed out of the team.
