Lego Star Wars: the Skywalker Saga came out on April 4, 2022. The has been attracting many players and the reviews have been positive as well. As of now, the game has a good mod-80s Metascore on Metacritic, with players scoring comfortably in the high 80s.

The title spans several movies from the hit franchise. It recreates the characters and planets with Legos. More importantly, each film has been broken into several levels. This brings to the question of whether the game is an open-world game or not? Well, the answer is yes.

The game has multiple sections where players land on a planet, it could be during Free Roam or the story, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga doesn’t always limit players to a single linear path.

The game feels like a sandbox at times. Players have a single objective to follow, but they can interact with several NPCs for fun or find hidden missions in huge open spaces. Levels in the game can be huge, with maps that offer open-world experiences.

There are also smaller, more personal levels that only offer what’s required for scene recreation. However, even in small spaces, there are a lot of collectibles to find, side missions to complete, and general Star Wars goodness.

Challenges are also an option, not just collectibles. Completing these challenges can unlock some characters, including the popular Yoda. Each level has three challenges to finish.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is an open-world experience, but there is more to it than that. It’s like multiple large sandboxes attached together, with over 350 playable characters.
