League of Legends Season 12 officially ends on November 14, 2022, after which Riot Games begins the preseason for 2023. Last year Riot decided to go with Sejuani as the Victorious Skin pick and who held Gold or higher in solo/duo or ranked. Flex also received a skin, among other prizes. Entering League of Legends Season 13, the publisher is rolling out major changes to Ranked in 2023.With the developers officially back at work from year-end holidays, players have exciting news about the start of the season, ranked splits, and more. Here’s what you need to know about League of Legends Season 13 start date and other details.

League of Legends Season 13 start date :

It looks like Riot Games has finally listened to players who have been wondering when they can start their climb up the ranks this year. Treating the player base to the new year of 2023, with just four days to go, Riot Games has finally revealed the start date for League of Legends Season 13. On January 3, game designer Ezra “flox” Lynn took to Twitter to reveal the first patch preview of 2023 and said that they were still looking at Solo Q outliers as the game was dominant at the start of the season.

He mentioned that League of Legends Season 13 is starting with the first patch on January 10 (Tuesday). In short, you can start spamming ranks when LoL Patch 13.1 goes live on January 10th, 2023.

What’s changing this year in ranked?

First, there will be two ranked resets in Season 13. Split 1 is scheduled to launch on January 10th and Split 2 will launch in the middle of the year as Riot Games is still deciding on the exact launch date for Split 2. Additionally, Riot Games is also changing the ranked promotion series from best-of-five (BO5) to best-of-three (BO3). It said, “We are removing the visible rank effect from your matches.”Secondly, Riot recognized that the previous ranked split track had only four prizes which were spread too far apart and the prizes were not motivating or rewarding players enough. As a result, the number of awards is increasing this year.

Finally, players will be able to earn two ranked skins, one per split. Interestingly, ranked skins will be available to players of all ranks, not just Gold and above, provided players play a certain number of games. However, the catch is that players who reach Gold from the lower tiers (Iron, Bronze, Silver) will earn a victorious skin right after their promotion and will retain the skin in their inventory even if they drop back to a lower tier. But players placed above the Gold levels will continue to earn rewards only at the end of the rank split.

League of Legends executive producer Jeremy “Brightmoon” Lee wrote on Twitter, “1) Season 2023 starts January 10th! 2) Looking forward to meeting the dev team next week in the 2023 Season 1 launch video.” Can’t!! We have more of the team on camera than ever before to talk about their areas of focus so please give them a warm welcome. So players can expect to see a Riot Games League of Legends Season 13 Opening Day livestream as well as new cinematics for the season very soon!
