Indian gamers to compete at the 2022 Asian Games, qualifying via Battlegrounds Mobile India

KRAFTON, the South Korean video game company, today announced that Indian players will be able to qualify for the official esports program of the 2022 Asian Games via BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA. This will allow Indian gamers the privilege and opportunity to compete at the event for medals. The Games will run from September 10th to September 25th, 2022, with competitors from across Asia competing for the medals. BGMI’s inclusion in the e-sports games bouquet exemplifies KRAFTON’s commitment to developing e-sports ecosystem globally & in India. KRAFTON has been investing heavily in the development of Indian gaming, esports, and IT entertainment industries with the establishment of its Indian office. The Asian Games is a multi-sport event that’s held every four years, in which Asia’s best athletes compete. The event is recognised by the International Olympic Committee as the second-largest event of its kind, behind only the Olympics. The Asian Games first paved the way for esports representation with its inclusion as a demonstration sport in 2018. In 2020, and now 2022, esports is part of the official program and a medalled event.

Krafton had recently announced BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA SERIES 2021. Battlegrounds Mobile India Series: IQOO becomes the title sponsor

The gaming sector in India has been booming right now with multiple gaming titles investing in the Indian gaming community. Krafton has now partnered with popular smartphone brand iQOO to officially bring BGMI to the Esports scene in India. It is going to be the biggest gaming event for BGMI fans in India and the prize pool is worth Rs 1 Crore. Last month Krafton extended the registrations for the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series. Players can still register for the BGMI India Series as the registration is going on.

During the BGMI Launch party, Krafton had hinted that they would announce the Esports roadmap for BGIS on 15th of July. Krafton has opened its registration for the biggest tournament of Battleground Mobile India. It will be open for all tournaments where teams from all over India can battle for the whopping prize money of Rs 1 crore.

The tournament is expected to receive more than 100,000 registrations from all over the country. Moreover the prize money of Rs 1 crore is also a landmark reward. The in-game qualifiers for the tournament will start in November and it will be followed by multiple online qualifier stages. Players must improve their ranks to platinum tier or higher to be eligible to play the qualifiers.
