Epic Games is taking a more conscious and direct approach to protecting young Fortnite players with a combined account system and also in the Fortnite game. If you are a young player, your Epic account will be a cabin account and you will be asked to provide a parent or guardian’s email address to begin the parental consent process.
Don’t worry about losing access to already purchased content as it will all be normally available. However, the following features will be disabled. With a cabin account, you’ll be able to play Fortnite with full access to content already purchased or acquired in the game, but will need to set parental controls to access certain features. Once your parents have set up parental controls, your experience will respect the settings they choose and your account will no longer be a cabin account.
When the owner turns 13 years old or if their parents and/or guardians are not aware of it. Or if the guardian gives them the parental consent to do so, the account can gain the ability to access all lock-out features. Additionally, as we announced in September, if you’re under the age of 18 and haven’t previously provided your age, you’ll see some settings reset to the highest privacy option.
Chat to “None” by default, your profile details are hidden, parties’ default to “Invite Only”, and personalized recommendations will be turned off.
