Grand Theft Auto (GTA) is considered one of the best series ever designed by Rockstar Games. The open-world environment, twists at regular intervals and realistic depiction of crime have resulted in each game being awaited with great enthusiasm by the fans. From Italian thugs to psychopaths, one stands exposed to some extremely well-written characters providing glorious entertainment. Here’s a look at some of the most popular protagonists and antagonists from the GTA series, who helped fans enjoy a wholesome experience:

Niko Bellic: Niko Bellic is considered one of the most extraordinary characters in the GTA series, making his presence felt in GTA IV. Bellic has been provided quality depth as a character, with an interesting backstory of a child soldier who participated in the Bosnian wars. The Serbian is quite difficult to convince and keeps his emotions under control at every stage. Bellic’s story unravels steadily, exposing the gamer to all facets of his personality slowly. The Serbian can be quite ruthless when he needs to be, but like every other human has a few people he genuinely cares about. Bellic’s constant challenges and struggle to protect the people he loves makes GTA IV a great experience.

Carl “CJ” Johnson: Johnson appears as the protagonist of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, providing fans exposure to a conflicted character who is attempting to do the best he can in the most troubling of circumstances. CJ as he is commonly known is not the confident hero one is used to seeing in the movies. He has doubts in his capabilities with a troubled past haunting him at regular intervals. Johnson’s character will evoke sympathy, presenting the story of a man who is trapped in the fight between crime lords and the police. There is constant uncertainty as he attempts to survive in the dark streets of San Andreas, despite facing threats at every stage.

Ken Rosenberg: Rosenberg is one of the most unreliable men one could ever encounter in life, but he is the man who GTA Vice City’s Tommy Vercetti can depend on for any assistance. Rosenberg has the ability to give policemen a headache especially if Vercetti is the man in jail, with threats of lawsuits without a moment of rest. The lawyer can certainly not keep his mouth shut, which makes him quite entertaining. Rosenberg plays a key character in GTA Vice City, helping Vercetti emerge victorious on the back of constant support and guidance. While he appeared in San Andreas, the lawyer will always enjoy a place in the hearts of fans because of his memorable performance in Vice City.

Michael De Santa: Michael De Santa is considered one of the most well-written characters in the GTA series, providing gamers an opportunity to take a look at a man who is constantly in battle with himself and perenially dissatisfied. The retired bank robber enjoys a good life with his family, a mansion and money which will certainly meet all his needs. However, that is not enough to bring a smile on his face or end his frequent complaints. De Santa will stop at nothing to get what he wants, with his greed for wealth more important than the well-being of the closest of friends or family.
