As per Gamereactor Spain’s European sources, God of War Ragnarok has been hit with another delay. The developer might announce the delay soon. Sony and developer Santa Monica Studio announced the game at PS’ September 2020 games showcase. It was slated to come out in 2021.

It was surprising when the Santa Monica-based team announced plans to push the launch of the game to June 2021. It was later revealed by the protagonist’s voice actor that the delay was due to his recovery from surgery. Both Sony and Santa Monica Studio are yet to provide an update on the delay.

God of War Ragnarok could receive another delay

According to a report from Gamereactor Spain, many “European sources” are hoping the game will hit PlayStation sometime in 2023, instead of the 2022 launch window. Sony hasn’t addressed the speculation surrounding the launch date of the game. The rumors are expected to grow even more.

The PlayStation Network’s backend previously scheduled the game for September 30. Now the listing shows a December 31 date, which could mean the sequel can come out in Q4, 2022. When the studio plans to finally bring God of War Ragnarok is still a big question. But PlayStation’s forthcoming involvement in Summer Game Fest could give players a hint of the game’s release.

If God of War Ragnarok does come out next year, it will be interesting to see whether or not the game will be a cross-gen title for PS4 and PS5. Players will be excited to play the game as the previous installment was a major hit.
