Fortnite Battle Royale has become a global hit since its release date years ago, but that hasn’t stopped new and veteran players from reflecting on when the fan-favorite game first became available for players to jump into and experience. There is no denying that Fortnite Battle Royale is one of the most popular games in the world, as it quickly became a cultural phenomenon, resulting in crossovers with various high-profile entertainment franchises and an extremely large player base that enjoys all of the action that the game provides with each new season of content.

However, Fortnite has not always been one of the most popular games in the world, as the game and its popular battle royale mode were only released a few years ago and took the video game industry by storm, helping to establish common features for many games today such as cross-platform play.

When was Fortnite Battle Royale released?

The official release date for Fortnite’s battle royale game mode is September 26, 2017. On September 12, 2017, the world learned about the existence of this game mode for the first time.

Prior to the release of Fortnite Battle Royale, Epic Games’ title was a player-versus-environment survival game in which players had to construct fortifications to defend themselves against waves of enemies. The massive success of Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds, on the other hand, inspired Epic Games to add a battle royale mode to Fortnite, and the rest, as they say, is history.

It remains to be seen what the game’s future holds, but there is no doubt that everything the game has accomplished since the Fortnite release date of its battle royale mode will be remembered.
