Fortnite Chapter 3 came out with all the bells and whistles. It came with a flip and The Rock. Chapter 3’s first season brought more new features than an average Fortnite do-over. Not just the ability to swing around the map, along with the ability to slide.

Since the game doesn’t offer any tutorials on how to slide, not many players know about it. If you are someone having trouble sliding in Fortnite, in this article we have explained how to do it.

How to slide in Fortnite?

First and foremost, players will be required to generate some momentum. And, for that players don’t need to do anything extra, but only run. Players can also initiate a slide on a slope, and the steepness of their chosen slope will determine how hard it will be to slide on the surface.

Once players hit their preferred slope and they want to initiate the slide, they will have to press the crouch button on the controller. For PC, it’s the CTRL button and the right analog stick on consoles.

Players should ensure that they hold the crouch button for a little longer than usual, otherwise, the game will just think that players just want to crouch. Once the players manage to start the slide, they can release the button. By doing so, it won’t break their slide, but pressing the crouch for the second time will end the slide. Otherwise, players’ slides won’t come to an end until they reach the end of the slope.

Doing a slide in Fortnite isn’t that tricky once players know how to pull it off, though a prolonged press of the right analog stick might not be feasible in the heat of a match. Players might want to re-map their controls and switch the crouch button using the game’s “customize button assignment” option.

Doing so could be the difference between a good-looking elimination as players slide down a hill and a stopping shot and crouching at the top of it, making them an easy target.
