It wasn’t long before EA announced the new features to the latest version, which evoked mixed reactions from users. FIFA 23’s career mode hasn’t changed all that much from FIFA 22’s, but it has a few noticeable additions. The “Playable Highlights” feature is the one that has many gamers interested. Users can play between 40 and 60 matches throughout a season in the career mode, which is rather lengthy. Additionally, gamers have the option of playing for multiple seasons with the same team or changing clubs to embark on a new adventure. In any case, the number of matches a gamer gets to play can become too many. Not everyone plays all the matches, hence a lot of users tend to simulate many games and only play the important ones.

EA has come up with a solution that allows users to instead take advantage of the “Playable Highlights” feature. In this option, the gamer can only play the highlights, while the majority of a specific match gets simulated. When there is a chance to score or defensive action is needed, the user gets control of the match. This feature allows the players to breeze through the “so-called” less-important matches by only playing the game highlights. It is a welcome addition to the new version. This feature is available in both manager career and player career modes.
Pre-season tournament: The overall pre-season format has been changed compared to the previous editions. Unlike the earlier versions, the pre-season tournament will take place closer to the opening games of the season. This helps the players to maintain their match sharpness.
‘Real Manager’ gameplay opportunity: This feature allows gamers to play with the avatars of real-life managers. “Upon selecting the manager of your choice, you can customize their outfit and decide on the club they’ll be in charge of,” a statement from ea.com read.
Transfer Analyst: This is one of the most talked about features in the latest version. This feature shows the users how well they have done the transfer business when it comes to buying or selling players. The ratings range from A-F thereby letting the players know where they could have improved while conducting the transfer business.
Cinematics: There are some new cut scenes added to the game. It can be seen in trophy celebrations, joining the club and transfer activities. These features are available in both manager and player career modes. Not to mention that there is an improvement to the overall matchday experience.
Player Career: The player career has also seen good improvements to the game in various departments. The most notable one is the ‘Player Personality feature.’ In FIFA 23, the player’s behaviour and decisions on the pitch will be closely monitored by the Player Personality system. It depends on how well the player connects with his teammates, such as how long he takes to pass the ball to other players in his own team. There are also a lot of improvements in the off-pitch activities.

There are some significant changes made to the gameplay features. One of the standout ones is the on-pitch interactions between the players. This gives the users a cumulative gaming experience. There are also additional features added to the attacking and defending side of the game. The power shots are sure to get the users excited while playing the game. Besides, the set-pieces such as free kicks, penalties and corners have undergone overhaul changes. The attacking gameplay of FIFA has often been one of its biggest positives and the trend has continued in this edition too.

In the latest version not only have they added additional options to score goals but have also given some much-needed defensive enhancements. Defence is one area where the previous FIFA versions have failed to fully help the users but that is something which has been addressed – to an extent – in FIFA 23. The noticeable feature in defending is Hard Slide Tackles. Besides, the Partial Team Press allows two of the user’s players to closely mark the opponent’s passing options. Furthermore, player switching has also improved considerably with the ‘Adaptive Right Stick Switching.’

One of the eye-catching features of the Ultimate Team is “FUT Moments.” This provides challenges to users in short gameplay scenarios with adjustable difficulty levels. They might be asked to recreate a certain wonder goal scored at the weekend or overturn a 2-0 deficit in a given period of time. The gamers can earn stars upon completing these challenges. The FUT Moments has been well received by many gamers till now.
Besides, the chemistry of the Ultimate Team is also being overhauled. This helps the users in building a dream team with better chemistry. “The more players you have with the same league, nation, or club, the greater the boost to their stats to help your team’s chances on the pitch,” a statement from the official website read. Besides, players can also have up to three secondary positions. There are quite a few other features to get gamers excited about this new version.
Cross-play is one of the most significant additions to FIFA 23. In this version, players will be able to play with friends and opponents on different platforms of the same generation in a variety of online game modes. “Following the cross-play test in FIFA 22 to Online Friendlies and Online Seasons, we’re expanding on the availability of cross-play to more game modes for FIFA 23, as well as increasing the number of included platforms,” read the text from ea.com pitch notes.
In FIFA 23, cross-play will be available for players on the same platform generation. PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Stadia, and PC versions of FIFA 23 will be cross-play compatible with one another, and PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of FIFA 23 will be cross-play compatible with one another, according to the statement.
“In FIFA 23, cross-play will be available at launch in FUT Division Rivals (except Co-Op), FUT Champions, FUT Ultimate Online Draft, FUT Online Friendlies (except Co-Op), FUT Play a Friend, Online Friendlies, Online Seasons (except Co-Op Seasons) and the Virtual Bundesliga competitive game mode that is available to players based in Germany,” the statement added. This is a feature many fans have been wanting to be included in the game for a long time. Hence, the latest development surrounding cross-play has been received well by a lot of gamers.

The HyperMotion2 technology has allowed EA to create realistic gameplay and player animations. This has allowed users to have a better gaming experience compared to its previous versions. “Data captured directly from the pitch in both a men’s and women’s match results in a combined total of over 6000 HyperMotion-enabled animations that make players move and play more responsively and realistically than ever before in FIFA 23,” a statement from the official website states.
This can be clearly seen during several instances of the game such as technical dribbling, jockeying or striking a ball. The new enhancement makes the movement more fluid than before, thereby improving the gamers’ overall experience. The latest improvement can be felt in both men’s and women’s football. However, the users must check the specifications on the official website to see if their gaming device is compatible enough with the new additions.

The introduction of women’s club teams is another noticeable addition to the latest version. The FIFA 22 edition might have had women’s international teams, but FIFA 23 has women’s club football for the first time ever. “As women’s club football comes to EA SPORTS FIFA for the first time ever with the addition of the Barclays WSL and D1 Arkema, we’re presenting the ratings for the top players in the women’s game in FIFA 23 who will be playable across Kick Off, Online Seasons, Co-Op Seasons, Online Friendlies, and Tournament modes,” the statement from official website added.
