We all know that there were ton of modifications that arrived with Overwatch 2’s release like better role specialization and ult charge tuning, the improvement in maps included with the name game directed to the execution of one of the game’s least-famous characteristics. Dreaded Map Pools getting eliminated from Overwatch 2.

Map pools were added to Overwatch 2, giving gamers only a restricted number of choices for the map or maps they might discern in a specific game.

The makers justified map pools, saying they were crucial to provide gamers more of an opportunity to witness the fresh Overwatch 2 maps along with providing them an opportunity to touch up the actual Overwatch maps and bring them up to snuff for the sequel. Sadly, gamers have been outspoken regarding the limiting options the map pools provide.

In a new director’s take post, the Overwatch team has announced that map pools will not come back in Season 4. In clarifying about the modification in direction, the post stated “[w]e aimed to provide a bit of freshness each season and concentrate the number of maps that people were playing, however player sentiment around map pools was pretty low, the map roster doesn’t have enough maps where we truly need them, and the impact they had on seasonal identity was fairly low.”

The makers teased that map pools could come back in the future if the amount of maps does become unwieldy. Nonetheless, it is possible that, if map pools do come back it would be in a particular playlist or game mode.

In inclusion to the reduction of map pools, the team also announced that they would be doing a bit of playing with code on the back end to keep in mind some tcertainecific maps (particularly Colosseo) will not occur as often.

Other significant modifications the makers communicated were changing specific maps to let for more flanking routes near to spawns, and to modify up future challenges so they are not as concentrated on the seasonal game mode.
