CS:GO PRIME STATUS: What is it? – Why do you need it, Too?

On December 6, 2019, Counter-Strike became a free-to-play game. If you purchased and owned the game before that date, Prime will already be activated on your account. However, your Prime Status would have been lost if for any reason you had deleted the phone number linked to your account. However, after six months, this number can easily be linked once more to activate Prime. Your Prime status is linked to your phone number rather than the account you’re currently using, so if necessary, you can transfer it to a different account.

You can purchase your Prime status on Steam for $14.99 or play online casual matches until you reach level 21 (Lieutenant) if you didn’t purchase Counter-Strike, are new to the game, or simply want to level up an additional account. You must have a working phone number associated with your Steam account in order to purchase Prime.

Benefits of Prime:

In online Counter-Strike and Danger Zone matches, players with Prime are paired together. Prime members are entitled to all community-run servers as well as Prime-only mementos, item drops, and weapon cases. The first Prime-only item to be added to the game was an MP5-SD Lab Rats skin, but many more have since been added. The real advantage of Prime is that you might be able to stay away from cheaters.

Sadly, aimbotting and wallhacking are widespread practises in Counter-Strike, especially among lower ranks. Cheaters who don’t want to spend $14.99 on an account that might be banned are discouraged by Prime status. Instead, they focus on non-Prime accounts and sabotage the non-Prime user’s matchmaking experience. Although having prime status won’t guarantee you won’t encounter any cheaters, it should raise the calibre of your matches. Prime is not and never will be an anti-cheat, but it is unquestionably an improvement over nothing.

Can Prime and non-Prime users play together?

You can still get a CS:GO Prime account if you’re a new player. You can still play with your friend if you really want to but they don’t have Prime status. You will, however, unavoidably be paired with other players who are not Prime. The only option right now is to pay $14.99 for Prime Status on Steam. Since the transition, this price has not changed because doing so would encourage more fraud. It should be noted that in order to have Prime Status, your Steam account must also be linked to a working phone number.

Reaching level 21 used to qualify players for Prime Status, but this was eliminated in 2021 because it didn’t work as intended to deter cheaters. Some players search online for CS:GO Prime accounts for sale, but we do not advise doing so. In order to get around the need for a phone number, cheaters typically use this in competitive CS:GO.
