Overview of Chainsaw Man Manga Chapter 118

In the starting of chapter, Denji became confused when Yoru called out “Denji Spinal Cord Sword,” proving that the plan to turn Denji into a weapon had failed completely. Denji grabs her head in response and shouts “Asa Spinal Cord Sword,” figuring it was just a fun way to say farewell, much to her amazement. She tries to change Denji several more times, but each time it fails. Asa chastises Yoru for trying to turn him into a weapon; Yoru responds that given how well they get along, it must have worked. Since Tanaka had feelings for her, Asa likely came to the conclusion that it didn’t work because she thinks that in order to alter a living being, the other person must share those feelings.

Yoru says she is going to bed because they didn’t get much rest at the aquarium. When Asa inquires about Fami, Yoru replies that she is the Famine Devil and that it had been so long since they had last seen each other that she couldn’t remember who she was, implying that this is a different incarnation from the one she is accustomed to. Before Asa could inquire why, Yoru faints, telling him to avoid her because of her crazy.

She tries to wake the sleeping devil but is unsuccessful, which leaves her to reflect on Denji and become increasingly enraged at him for seemingly not feeling the same way about her despite everything they accomplished.

The following day, Denji offers that he and Asa go to the all-night mummy movie marathon being offered by the neighbourhood theatre for just 2000. Asa, who is still irritated with him, says that DVD rentals would be less expensive and that it was too expensive for her. She replies that she doesn’t have a VCR at her home when Denji inquires about it. He confirms that he does when she asks, to which Asa retorts that the date should then take place at his house.

Asa tells Denji that they can always cancel the date if he can’t make it, which makes him surprised that she wants to come over. He finally agrees, saying she is welcome to visit as long as she abides by the strict house rules, which she is not allowed to disobey in any way. Denji responds that, in the worst-case scenario, she would perish when Asa inquires what would occur if she did. Asa appears unpersuaded, but a nearby Haruka is seen watching them suspiciously from a distance. She is probably still inquisitive about Asa’s abilities and firmly believes Denji’s claims.
