Faction missions will be reset and refreshed, but will give players the opportunity to earn experience and new mission rewards such as weapon blueprints and cosmetics. Players will not lose any permanent content earned during season one, as well as their unlocked Insured weapon slots. The new season will introduce a new Exclusion Zone in Ashika Island, as well as a new faction known as the Crown, but the new faction and its missions will only be available to Modern Warfare 2 owners. Players who can access Crown missions will be able to unlock operator skins, weapon blueprints, and valuable forbidden weapons.

The blog also addresses the previously announced seasonal wipe for the DMZ. Activision says the refresh will include removing acquired contraband weapons, clearing out key locations, and resetting all Faction missions and mission progress. The publisher says this reset is to make room for an updated mission set that covers all maps.Fortunately, the publisher confirms that players won’t lose any insured weapon slots unlocked through previous Faction mission progress. Additionally, players who haven’t unlocked the additional slots will find it easier to progress with the change in mission difficulties for Season 2.

It’s also worth noting that any rewards earned during Season 1 will not be reset. This includes operator skins, weapon blueprints, and other cosmetics obtained from events and boss encounters. In order to complete the reset, Activision says that the DMZ may need to go offline for a few hours before Season 2’s launch, but more details will be shared at a later date.
