With great Call of Duty games comes the massive size of the software. The size of the game is among the most talked-about aspects of the long-running franchise ever since Activision rebooted Modern Warfare and added Warzone battle royale. And, the size is only meant to go uphill.

For PS5, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone cross 250GB, which is around half the built-in SSD on the console. This might be the biggest drawback of the whole franchise. With an aim to go head-to-head with Fortnite and other live gaming services, Activision has created something so massive that it’s difficult to bring in other games in the mix.

Another massive entry in the franchise

Activision launches a new Call of Duty game every year, and it almost always shatters the sales records. Since the company has managed to stick to the winning formula for years, the game has been popular among gamers for years. However, last year the company made some changes to the franchise by adding a battle royale mode, Warzone, which has also become a fan favorite.

The campaign isn’t far from what we’ve seen earlier, but it packs enough moments to justify the history of the game with its compelling storytelling. Black Ops Cold War also tries to throw in some pop culture references from the 1980s actions films.

Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War might be the most impressive entry in the franchise for several reasons. For one, it is well-optimized for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Gaming on 120Hz amplifies the gaming experience significantly. However, the multiplayer features fewer than 30 weapons, and most of them aren’t very interesting or different from each other. Besides, players get to choose from only 8 multiplayer maps.

Zombies mode still feels fresh

Black Ops Cold War also features a zombies mode, which also has a refreshing feel compared to previous entries. The mode is fast-paced and packs tons of secrets to be unraveled. It might be the reason why many players would have this game even next year, even beyond the launch of the next entry in the series, which presumably might not feature a zombies mode.

That said, Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War is still a massive game and eats up a lot of space of the solid-state drive. There are several players who do not have the right multiplayer pack installed or have deleted Warzone to save space and download the zombies mode.
