In 2022, four big events with a total prize pool of Rs. 6 crores (about $799,000) will be held.
After much anticipation, Krafton has finally revealed the Battlegrounds Mobile India esports roadmap for 2022 ( BGMI ESports (BGMI). PUBG Mobile in India is known as BGMI.
In 2022, four big events with a total prize pool of Rs. 6 crores (about $799,000) will be held. The following are the tournaments:
*BMOC – Battlegrounds Mobile Open Challenge – Rs 1 crore
*BMPS – Battlegrounds Mobile Pro Series Season 1 – Rs 2 crores
*BMIS – Battlegrounds Mobile India Series – Rs 1 crore
*BMPS – Battlegrounds Mobile Pro Series Season 2 – Rs 2 crores
The prize money for both seasons of the BMPS will be Rs. 2 crores (approximately $266,000). According to a press release from Krafton, this is the largest prize pool for a single esports event in India. The Open Challenge (BMOC) will begin accepting registrations later this month. After that, towards the end of March, the qualifications will be held.
Krafton remained tight-lipped regarding how to qualify for PUBG Mobile’s international events. However, according to a press release, the company would provide “a slew of national and worldwide prospects for sporting gamers.” Something similar is expected to happen this year, given the participation of an Indian team in the PMGC 2021 Finals.
“Krafton remains committed to the development of the esports ecosystem in India, and in 2022, we will continue to provide a platform to players across the spectrum, be it pro-level or simply gaming enthusiasts via a range of tournaments and thoughtfully curated experiences,” said Minu Lee, the head of BGMI at Krafton.
“With more and more talent emerging, and the esports ecosystem growing exponentially in India, we look forward to hosting these tournaments that promise to be intensely competitive and full of nail-biting game moments. We are steadfast to provide a global platform for these players to showcase and harness their skills”
Last year, Krafton revealed that through BGMI, gamers can qualify for the Asian Games’ PUBG Mobile division. For the first time, esports will be a medal event at the 2022 Asiad, an international multi-sport event. Arena of Valor Asian Games edition, Dota 2, Dream Three Kingdoms 2, EA Sports FIFA, Hearthstone, League of Legends, and Street Fighter V are among the other esports titles in the Asian Games. In September of this year, it will take place in Hangzhou, China.
BGMI Esports Registration Date
There is currently no specific date for when these events will commence, but registration for the Battlegrounds Mobile Open Challenge (BMOC) will begin at the end of February, with in-game qualifiers scheduled for the end of March.
