How are the preparations going on?

We are scrimming 4 games per day and then we give one hour for discussing about what went wrong, strategies and how we can be better in the game. I am playing this popular MOBA game professionally for the last seven years.

What has changed in your routine now that you’re just not gamers, but athletes?

It’s more or less the same we practise together and follow up with a discussion and play solo to improve our game.

Does physical training come in to play now that you have strenuous practice hours and clarity of mind is needed more than ever?

Most of the players hit the gym and yeah it helps in putting more focus on games and helps in improving communication between us. It’s necessary to keep ourselves in shape as we have to continuously work on our hand moves and reflexes.

How has this opportunity changed your life?

It’s a big thing for us to represent India at the international level and I’m very happy about it. Also, the inclusion of esports in the Asian Games helps recognise what esports is among the mass audience in India. This is a massive step which will boost every esports athlete’s morale and many athletes came forward to opt for a full-time career in the esports ecosystem.

If you can describe the change of mindset of your team player now that they know they will be representing the country?

They’re very excited and even more focused to give their all-out after we have qualified for the Asian games. We study good teams in this particular esports title and read the gameplays and how we can counter them by watching their gameplay and strategies. It’s the most important to know how your opponent plays and what their thinking is, the drafting before the match starts is very important when the team select their players from the indefinite number of heroes residing in the game. One should know the powers, strengths and weaknesses of the heroes which your opponent team selects to play.
