E-commerce giant Amazon plans to launch its Prime Gaming service in India. Amazon offers in-game content with Prime Gaming to gamers. This service is available in many countries except India. However, the company is expected to launch a gaming platform for Indian gamers soon. India is one of the biggest overseas markets for tech and e-commerce giant Amazon. The company has experienced a rapidly growing consumer base for its e-commerce website, Prime Video, Amazon Pay, Amazon Music, Amazon Fresh, Amazon Business, and more. And now, towards the growing gaming and e-sports scenario in India, Amazon may launch Prime Gaming in India.
Amazon Prime Gaming is an online platform bundled with Amazon Prime and Prime Video. It offers in-game content with free games to download, monthly free Twitch channel subscriptions, and all the other Amazon Prime benefits. While the service was launched in the US in 2016, it is currently available in a few countries including the US, the UK, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, and many more. Other countries except for India. However, the service is expected to launch in India soon. Apparently, the Amazon Prime website showed a banner saying “Amazon Prime Gaming now available in India” in the Prime section. However, after clicking on the banner, the site showed the following error when loading the Prime Gaming homepage. The company later removed the banner, but many users discovered it and shared screenshots on Twitter.

In the banner, Amazon also mentions that “you (the user) can unlock instant access to tons of exclusive content for your favourite games and a rotating collection of PC games.” …every month.” While there are no updates on the launch from Amazon, the company is testing the Prime Gaming service in India and preparing for an official launch. Prime Gaming will launch with free PC games and exclusive content at no extra charge, just like in other countries like US, UK and others.
Notably, Amazon Prime Gaming, an improved version of Twitch Prime, was originally launched in the US in 2016. Prime Gaming is already a growing platform in other countries, offering game bundles, game content, Twitch subscriptions, and more. And now that India is seeing growth in games and e-sports and competitors like Netflix are launching their game offerings, Amazon is certainly not going to be left behind in the race.
