For some teams, the qualifying round wasn't as enjoyable. For instance, Toronto Ultra, the current Major III champion, finished this stage with a record of just 1–4, crushing all other teams aside from the Florida Mutineers, who they defeated 3–0.

OpTic Texas has achieved a perfect qualifying stage for the first time since the Call of Duty League season began. OpTic Texas defeated teams like the London Royal Ravens, the Subliners, LA Thieves, the Guerrillas, and Boston Breach in a massive sweep, posting a final record of 15–3. OpTic now holds the top seeding position for Major IV, which is scheduled to take place from April 20 to April 23.

There are no expectations that the team will produce anything significant at Major IV as a result of the poor week that has led some to claim that Ultra’s victory at Major III was “fraudulent.” OpTic Texas might have won its first Major in more than a year with this victory. The team of Shotzzy, Ghosty, Dashy, and Huke has recently been virtually unstoppable, delivering some of the best outcomes in CDL history.

There is a tantalising bracket set up, with such a diverse array of teams, some of which are complete outsiders, sitting in the winner’s bracket. Nobody really knows who will win the Major, despite OpTic Texas being the clear favourite, so fantasy games and Call of Duty League betting will make for an interesting show. The first confirmed and set fixtures for Major IV are as follows:

Thursday, April 20th

  • Minnesota ROKKR vs. LA Thieves
  • Las Vegas Legion vs. New York Subliners
  • Boston Breach vs. OpTic Texas
  • Atlanta FaZe vs. Seattle Surge

As Major IV approaches, OpTic Texas is riding a weeks-long unbroken winning streak in Hardpoint, and in every other game mode, the team exhibits fluidity, consistency, and clear chemistry. Prior to Major III, it appears that including Ghosty, a Rookie of the Year contender, was a very wise move.

OpTic wasn’t the only elite team in recent weeks, though. The likes of Las Vegas Legion also had a fantastic streak during this qualifier. At a Call of Duty League Major, Legion has qualified for the winner’s bracket for the first time in the history of the franchise. Legion has recently defeated the Boston Breach, LAG, Toronto Ultra, and Florida Mutineers, but it also has help. With a combined 4-1 record, Seattle Surge, LA Thieves, and the Subliners outperformed teams like Florida and LAG, which were unable to win even one series during this phase. The Major is going to be incredible, and so many teams are eager to win.

With just one chance to advance, Toronto Ultra, London Royal Ravens, LAG, and Florida are in the lower bracket. A single defeat in this round results in elimination. The Major will once again feature a massive $500,000 prize pool and take place in Columbus, Ohio, but there won’t be a live audience in attendance. Following this competition, there will be the Toronto Ultra Major, which will take place between May 5 and May 28, and finally, at a site that has not yet been revealed, the Call of Duty League Championship.
