Riot Games announced today that new cosmetics for Mundo, Udyr, and Shyvana will be released. These three League of Legends champions had to wait years for “a little love” from their publisher, according to Andrei “Meddler” Van Roon. Riot is working on skins for champions who haven’t seen a new cosmetic in a while, according to the head of League Studios. Riot Meddler specifically mentions Shyvana, Udyr, and Mundo, who has not received a new skin in five years. In addition to having a significant number of them, they also receive them quite frequently, with an average waiting period of less than 300 days between appearances.

In fact, while Shyvana’s Ruined skin was included in the Sentinels of Light event, Mundo has been waiting to make an appearance since he last wore the Frozen Prince outfit. After more than 1,500 days of waiting, one League of Legends champion is finally receiving a new skin:

Given her potential significance to the plot and her planned appearance in the upcoming Riot Forge game The Mageseeker, it wouldn’t be surprising to see yet another skin associated with a League of Legends Story game. On the other hand, Mundo’s new skin might be associated with one of the themes that have been hinted at for this year, such as the cats vs. dogs skin line or one of the themes that Riot Meddler hinted at today.

This year, according to the developers, they want to explore more themes (like the brand-new Fairy Court), as well as develop new ones for bigger events that won’t be available for a while (during the MSI in May, and during the big summer event in the middle of the year). We are making skins for champions like Udyr, Shyvana, and Mundo who haven’t had one in a while and deserve some love in addition to exploring new themes. For the record, the only characters who have been waiting for a new skin for more than a thousand days are Udyr and Dr. Mundo (and only 787 for Shyvana).

The two champions have undergone extensive renovations, and on this occasion, all of their skins have been redone to modern specifications, so this situation is easily explained. So we can say that they had – in a way – new cosmetics. Nevertheless, it’s encouraging to see that Riot Games is interested in players’ love for these characters and has finally given them a fresh appearance.

The Spirit Walker, another champion who recently underwent a significant rework, will also get some love. Like Mundo, Udyr might be a part of a new theme as well, but for the time being, the details of their upcoming cosmetics remain a mystery.
