Season three of Halo Infinity is on the horizon. With less than two months to go, the final schedule of the Winter Update—Joint Fire—is due to fall tomorrow, with developer 343 Industries releasing a new trailer that showcases both classic and new cosmetics that will be available as prizes.

The two-week-long Joint Fire event brings back the Covert One Flag limited-time mode, which began when the Winter Update launched and features a 10-level event pass, including a dazzling new take on Halo Reach’s JFO Armor set. While Mark V (B) has been in Halo Infinity since the Spartan Corps season one war pass, not all of Halo Reach’s armor made it to the game with it. Most fan-favorite pieces made it to that original war pass, but it’s only in winter updates that some of the more notable exclusions—such as CQC, CQB, and JFO—have finally returned to all their remastered goodness. Unlike that original war pass, all of these subsequent additions are also completely free to receive, a small gift for players in the wake of infinite development issues.

In addition to the armor that has made headlines for Joint Fire’s event pass, the free prizes also include two new visor colors ‘Action Lime’ and ‘Bay Sunset’ as well as a ‘Violet Crush’ armor coating. Players will have plenty of time to receive these awards as the shorter competition will have a higher runtime than usual, which will end on January 31.

The event will serve as an effective stopgap in content drought ahead of the arrival of season three in early March, but the entire month of February looks like an empty one for the new Halo Infinity update. Nothing was previewed on the roadmap between the Joint Fire event and the launch of the season, and this continues to be the case more than likely. The Halo Infinity Alpha pack will be available until August 2022, which means players will have two weeks to participate in the event. This two-week time frame is consistent with prior Halo Infinite events.
