The Pokémon Company has announced details of the 2023 Pokémon Unite Championship Series, the company’s largest eSports tournament for mobile MOBA Pokémon Unite. The tournament will consist of a series of qualifying events each month starting February 2023 and will culminate with the World Championship in Yokohoma, Japan. 2023 Pokémon Unite Championship Series will Conclude in Japan

The 2023 World Championship will have a total prize pool of $500,000 (~£411,000).In total, there will be 17 teams that will qualify for the World Championships. Details regarding the Pokémon Unite Championship Series in Asian regions are yet to be revealed.The tournament will consist of regional qualifiers followed by monthly finals. Players will earn Championship Points (CP) based on their performance, with the best teams advancing to regional championships. The best performing teams in the regional championships will be selected to compete in the Pokémon World Championships at the end of the year.

The best teams from Asia-Pacific, Brazil, Europe, Japan, Latin America North and South, North America, Oceania, South Korea and India will compete in the tournament for the title of World Champion in Yokohama, Japan. Regional qualifiers will be held in February 2023, with the World Championship scheduled for August 2023, and will be played alongside official Trading Card Game (TCG) and popular Pokémon franchises such as Pokémon Go.

In March 2023, players will also be able to compete in the Aeos Cup, a special tournament that offers prizes and more CP than the monthly tournaments. The Aeos Cup will have a total prize pool of $25,000 (~£21,000) while the Regional Championships will have a total prize pool of $50,000 (~£41,000). The first open qualifier in the Pokémon Unite Championship will be played on February 4, 2023.

Just a few weeks back, The Pokémon Company teamed up with Indian esports and gaming company Skysports to launch the Pokémon Unite India Open. Pokémon Unite is a mobile and Nintendo Switch game that pits two teams of five players against each other to score points through map objectives.

The game was slated to release in 2021, though its competitive scene debuted a year later in 2022.The upcoming Pokémon Unite Championship Series 2023 is expected to be much bigger and more action-packed than the previous iteration. It will be interesting to see which team will rise on top and win the championship title.
