Manchester City are inches away from defending their Premier League title and they will be hoping to move six points clear of the points table, when they travel to the London stadium to face West Ham United on Sunday afternoon. Man City are heading into the clash on the back of a 5-1 thrashing of Wolverhampton Wanderers in the mid-week while David Moyes’ side also won by a four goal margin against Norwich City last time out. The Europa League dream may be over for West Ham and Moyes, but the Hammers responded to their continental loss in the perfect fashion during the trip to Carrow Road.

Said Benrahama opened the scoring before Michail Antonio doubled the lead on the half hour mark. West Ham dominated proceedings against an already relegated Norwich side and Benrahma completed his brace with a brilliant strike on the stroke of half time. After the break, Manuel Lanzini completed the drubbing with West Ham’s fourth goal of the night from the penalty spot. With Manchester United not in action this weekend, seventh-placed West Ham can move level on points with the Red Devils with victory here.

West Ham’s top six hopes are still very much alive and Moyes will be hoping to end the season on a high. The Hammers are on a four-game winless streak at home in all competitions but have managed to score in every game at London Stadium this season. Attack is the best form of defence against Pep Guardiola’s side who are definitely going to come out all guns blazing.

Kevin de Bruyne reminded that Pep Guardiola’s side doesn’t need a centre-forward to win the biggest titles. The Belgium international netted four times against Wolves and has now followed Georginio Wijnaldum and Frank Lampard’s footsteps as one of only three midfielders to score for goals in a single Premier League game. Raheem Sterling also got on the score sheet with a simple tap tin and completed the fin star victory. While Liverpool play Chelsea for FA Cup glory, the reigning champions can extend their lead at the summit to six points with a win this weekend and break the 90-point barrier once again.

Probable Lineups

Moyes has few injury issues as Benrahma, Craig Dawson and Antonio all had to be forced off with knocks at Carrow Road. The Hammers are reportedly optimistic about Dawson and Antonio’s chances of being passed fitt, but Benrahama will need further assessment, while Angelo Ogbonna remains out for the long term.

As for Man City, they have defensive issues as Aymeric Laporte and makeshift centre-back Fernandinho were both forced off with knee and hamstring issues respectively, so Guardiola will have limited options at the back this week.

West Ham United possible starting lineup: Fabianski, Coufal, Dawson, Zouma, Cresswell, Rice, Soucek, Bowen, Lanzini, Fornals, Antonio

Manchester City possible starting lineup: Ederson, Cancelo, Rodri, Ake, Zinchenko, Silva, Gundogan, De Bruyne, Mahrez, Jesus, Sterling.
