Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is reportedly considering his future at the club due to lack of game time. As per football journalist Fabrizio Romano, the 24-year-old is concerned about the lack of game time and might make a decision about his future in the coming weeks or months. The current contract of the England international runs until June 2023 with the option to extend for one more season. Rashford has been one of United’s most crucial players in the last few seasons but he has not been able to impress interim manager Ralf Rangnick so far this season. He has made 24 appearances so far this season, finding the back of the net only five times. It certainly has been a season to forget, one that might even see the MBE decide on a move away from his boyhood club.

An article in English newspaper The Guardian suggests that Rashford would like to have some clarity over from the club. His form has taken a serious hit and he certainly does not seem to be one of Rangnick’s favorites. It is not just his manager who might have found his performances underwhelming as a number of fans, over the course of the season, have criticized the 24-year-old for his football. The usual grievances include selfishness and an inability to be clinical, both of which can be arguable cases.

However, as per The Guardian, there is no guarantee that United would agree to a transfer request as the club certainly views Rashford as one of their most important assets, especially in a long-term scenario.

A new manager

Manchester United are currently on the hunt for a new permanent manager ahead of next season. After Ole Gunnar’s Solskjaer’s sacking last year, Ra;f Rangnick was appointed as an interim until the end of the season. The German has been promised an advisory role after his tenure, therefore the club has to appoint a permanent head coach. Two names that have popped up in a number of reports are Paris Saint-Germain’s Mauricio Pochettino and Ajax’s Erik ten Haag.

United fell to an embarrassing 4-1 defeat against local rivals Manchester City on Sunday at the Etihad Stadium. The Red Devils’ sole goal-scorer was Jadon Sancho while a brace each from Kevin De Bruyne and Riyadh Mahrez sunk the men in red.
