Erling Haaland transfer news: Fans react to Manchester City agreeing to sign prolific Norway striker from Borussia Dortmund

Manchester City sign one one of the hottest young prospects in Europe – Erling Haaland – from Borussia Dortmund for a reported five-year deal when the summer transfer window opens. City have reached an agreement with the German club after they activated a reported fee of around 60 million euro (£51.2m) release clause in his contract. The total cost, however, is expected to be higher when other costs like agent fees, signing bonus, etc are taken into account. It is a massive deal for Pep Guardiola’s side, who have been playing an entire season without a recognised centre-forward. On the other hand, Dortmund have quickly found a replacement for Haaland in the form of Red Bull Salzburg striker Karim Adeyemi.

The Manchester Blues wanted to sign Harry Kane last summer. However, Tottenham Hotspur were reluctant to let him go. Fast forward a year and City have got a bargain in Haaland. The Norway striker’s transfer fee is said to be much lesser than what Kane would have reportedly cost City last summer. Also considering Haaland’s age of 21, the Manchester Blues have got a fabulous deal in place. He has already captured the attention of entire Europe and has his whole career ahead of him. Haaland has the potential to rule the Premier League for well over a decade.

Earlier, Manchester City confirmed the transfer of the Norwegian, saying the deal is subject to the club finalising terms with the player. “Manchester City can confirm we have reached an agreement in principle with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of striker Erling Haaland to the Club on 1st July 2022. The transfer remains subject to the Club finalising terms with the player,” a statement read from Man City’s official website. This deal concludes City’s search for a striker after Sergio Aguero left the club on a free transfer last summer to Barcelona.

Haaland has proven to be a goal-scoring machine

Haaland might only be 21 years of age but the Norwegian has already proven to be one of the best strikers in all of Europe. After scoring 29 goals in 27 games for RB Salzburg, he joined Borussia Dortmund in January 2020. He went on to score 85 goals in 88 matches for the Germans. Along with Paris Saint-Germain centre-forward, Kylian Mbappe, Haaland has been one of the hottest prospects in Europe for the last couple of years.
