Cristiano Ronaldo has added another feather to his illustrious hat after being named the Premier League’s Player of the Month for April. This is the second time Ronaldo has won the award after returning to Old Trafford for a second time last summer. The latest accolade demonstrates how the 37-year-old continues to shine despite Manchester United’s poor form on the pitch. Ronaldo has found the back of the net five times in his four top-flight appearances for the Red Devils last month. The former Real Madrid star came out on top of an eight-man shortlist which also featured Nathan Collins, Kevin De Bruyne, Bruno Guimaraes, Gabriel Jesus, Son Heung-min, Thiago and Leandro Trossard.

How many times has Cristiano Ronaldo won Premier League’s Player of the Month award?

Cristiano Ronaldo, who has been named the EA SPORTS Player of the Month for April, got his hands on the award for the second time this season. He had earlier won the award in September following a memorable debut that saw him score a brace against Newcastle United. Overall, it is the sixth Premier League Player of the Month award for the Portuguese skipper. During his first stint with United, he won the award in November and December 2006 before grabbing the accolades again in January and March of the 2007-08 season.

Moreover, his sixth Player of the Month award gets him to within one of the record, which is jointly held by Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane and former Manchester City centre-forward Sergio Aguero. The 50th club hat-trick he scored against Norwich City was the highlight of his April goals. Besides, he netted his 100th Premier League goal during a 3-1 defeat at Arsenal. He then capped off the month, scoring the equaliser against Chelsea to secure an unlikely draw.

Burnley manager recognised for his good work

Meanwhile, Burnley manager Mike Jackson has been named Barclays Manager of the Month for April. “The interim head coach became the first Burnley manager to go unbeaten in his first four top-flight matches,” read a statement from the Premier League website. He helped Burnley win over Watford, Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers before getting a draw at West Ham United. Jackson has helped Burnely climb out of the relegation zone. He beat competition from Thomas Frank, Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp to win the accolade.

Watch Miguel Almiron’s goal of the month strike

Newcastle United midfielder Miguel Almiron got his first Premier League monthly award after scoring a splendid goal against Crystal Palace to win April’s Budweiser Goal of the Month. For the goal, Almiron had a lot of ground to cover and he ran from almost the halfway line and then got the better of Tyrick Mitchell. The Paraguayan then produced a beautiful curling left-foot shot into the top corner. A panel of experts combined with a public vote helped choose Almiron’s effort, as he beat seven other contenders.
