Yash Dhull News: India Under-19 Victorious Captain Shines on Ranji Trophy debut, Matches Sachin Tendulkar with a ton

Yash Dhull already etched his name in the history books when he helped India win the Under-19 World Cup for the fifth time in 2022. During the course of the tournament, Yash Dhull had joined Virat Kohli and Unmukt Chand as the other captains to have hit a century in the Under-19 World Cup. In the IPL, he was bought by the Delhi Capitals for Rs 50 lakhs. Now, in the Ranji Trophy 2022 season, Yash Dhull has matched Sachin Tendulkar for this one unique feat.

During Delhi’s opening Ranji Trophy 2022 game against Tamil Nadu in Barsapara, Guwahati, Dhull smashed a century in his maiden First-Class match. Thus, Dhull joined Sachin Tendulkar, Amol Muzumdar, Ajay Rohera, Prithvi Shaw and Rohit Sharma as other players to have hit a century on Ranji Trophy debut. The knock by Dhull boosted Delhi after they were reduced to 7/2 in the opening spell by Sandeep Warrier and M Mohammed. Dhruv Shorey and Himmat Singh went cheaply but Yash Dhull carried the fight ahead.

Dhull Shines on Ranji Trophy debut

Batting with immense confidence, Yash Dhull found a solid ally in Nitish Rana as they stitched a partnership in excess of fifty. But, Mohammed came back to dismiss Nitish Rana for 25. But, Jonty Sidhu joined Yash Dhull and the duo revived the innings. Dhull celebrated on reaching his fifty as Delhi made good progress.

The historic moment came when Yash Dhull reached his century with a couple of Baba Aparajith. The celebrations were awesome. The moment summed up how much Dhull wanted to score a Ranji century. This immediately saw people judging him to be the next big thing in Indian cricket. By matching Sachin Tendulkar’s feat, Dhull has shown his promise to the cricketing world. The Ranji Trophy century is just the start of something special for the youngster, who might also shine in the IPL.

Yash Dhull and His Upbringing in Delhi

Dhull began his schooling and cricket career from Bal Bhavan Cricket Academy. Born in the tough, mean streets of Janakpuri in South West Delhi, Dhull made a big impression in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy for Delhi. His average in that tournament was 75.5. Dhull was also the captain of the India side for the Under-19 Asia Cup tournament in which India won in dominating fashion.

At the start of the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2022, Dhull missed a few matches as he was laid low with the coronavirus. But, he made a strong recovery and smashed a century against Australia. His captaincy was praised universally and in the final, India consolidated their dominance in the Under-19 World Cup.
